Auto typer for Canvas

Your draft, typed into Canvas.

Trace types text you have already written into Canvas, the learning platform by Instructure, at the speed you choose: discussion replies, text-entry assignments and pages.

Add to Chrome

02

Good to know

How Trace handles Canvas

Word counts keep up

Trace sends a key press and release for every character, so a word count or character counter updates as the text goes in.

Paragraphs stay paragraphs

Enter is sent the way Canvas’s editor expects, so each paragraph in your draft stays a paragraph.

It never tabs onto Submit

A tab in your draft is typed into the text instead of moving to the next button, and Enter in a one-line field is sent so that it cannot submit the form.

Word files arrive as plain text

Bold, italics and headings from a Word upload are applied only in Google Docs and Word on the web. In Canvas the text comes in plain, and a page break becomes an empty line.

Schools and workplaces set their own rules about how work is entered. Trace types writing that is already yours; where a rule says otherwise, follow the rule. Read the ethics statement.
